Sleepwalking

I have many quirky habits tongue

I woke up yesterday to find out (from my step-dad) that I had been sleepwalking the night before. Apparently I’d wondered down to the kitchen - convinced that my clock was wrong - picked up my mobile and then wandered back up to bed. It seems that I also had a little unconscious wander last night too, as I awoke half-way through the night to find that my water bottle was back in my schoolbag despite having taken it out and put it on my bedside cabinet before I went to bed.

Anyways, are there any fellow sleepwalkers here? I have quite a few friends, but none of them have a habit of doing it… (and I get endlessly mocked wink)

Interesting note – We’ve found out I only ever sleep walk when the light outside my room is off, even if it is turned off long after I fall asleep. Do any of you guys know what triggers your sleepwalking?

Yep, we're both freaks wink

I sleep walk, talk (usually rather unintelligable/cryptic) and have a habit of picking things up tongue

Re: Sleepwalking

I've never sleepwalked, one less quirk for me. My bf used to as a kid but doesn't anymore. However he is capable of holding conversations while he's still asleep and can carry out simple activities like answering his phone. It can be quite tedious for me, we will agree on something and then he'll have no recollection of it later..

Re: Sleepwalking

It's more like I like to pretend I'm sleep talking or sleep walking just to drop some subtle hints about what I want/want to say to the person sleeping next to me... LOL, I'm more of a freak than you! ^_^

My younger brother does sleep walk though, it was too funny where everyone at home are watching him and he doesn't know it, he keeps walking to the kitchen door and ask where's his drawing, then feels around the walls with his hands, and then he asked why is it he haven't gone to the toilet yet... All this goes on for half an hour, he would walk back to his bed, goes to sleep, then does it again...

Re: Sleepwalking

I had that problem til I was 22 . My last episode , I was 8 months pregnant and wearing a huge tshirt - I put on boots as it was winter and walked down the street with an empty bag in my hand . My husband had heard the door open and shortly after jumped out of bed and when he looked out the window there I was walking .
When he caught up to me , said where are we going Dear. I said I have to go get baby food for the baby , it's coming soon.
He said ok , well lets go this way. He walked me back home , tucked me in bed and next morning I had no memory of it what so ever.
Delivered my daughter at 8:39 that evening and to this day have next slept walked again.

Re: Sleepwalking

My partner and I both talk, sing, shout and punch things in our sleep. He used to sleepwalk as a kid but grew out of it in his teen years.

It's no big deal for us (apart from that time I punched his nuts while we were both asleep) and it's kinda fun if only one of us is asleep and the other gets to have a laughing fit at what the other person says smile

Re: Sleepwalking

If you ask me a question when I am sleeping I can give yes and no answers, or I will say I love you if asked tongue.

On beating up people while sleeping: My cousin and sisters said I do but my friends said I don't. Guess it depends who I'm with tongue

Now this looks like a job for me so everybody just follow me cuz we need a little controversy, cuz it feels so empty without me

Re: Sleepwalking

One trigger can be the medication you take. I don't know if I was sleepwalking or just awake and couldn't remember it, but a few weeks ago I went into the bathroom and shaved all of my hair off down there... I woke up bald under the belt wondering what the heck happened! I take Ambien CR and what my doctor explained to me is some people do weird things without having memory of it. She told me about a girl that called her boyfriend and wasn't making sense. When he asked her about it in the morning he assumed she'd been drunk or something.

Re: Sleepwalking

I'm not sure if I'm sleepwalking or not, because my parents would have told me if I do, but there were times when I would wake up in the morning and find scratches on my arms or legs and once I even had a small bump on my head hmm

This is too funny, it's a good thing your husband heard the door open!!

I don't sleepwalk, but I find it odd that people have the ability to be conscious enough to walk around and do things, and have no recollection of it. The human mind is crazy sometimes!

My uncle sleepwalks though -- one time he went down to the kitchen and started eating Bits N Bites.. then moved on to the rocks in the Bonsai tree instead. Apparently he got frustrated trying to eat stones and decided to dump the food and the tree into the sink! hahah

Re: Sleepwalking

No, I never sleepwalk but my brother does. He doesnt sleepwalk much anymore, but when he was younger he'd do it all the time. We take sleeping pills, and they can sometimes make you do weird things.

Anyway, he's walked into the kitchen before, got a glass of milk then put it in the cubbard instead of the fridge. Or once when we were 15 my mom caught him walking into my room hovering over my bed. She had to wake him up, so he'd go back to bed. He sleep talks too from time to time.

Re: Sleepwalking

We're all sleeptalkers in our family.  My sister's the only one who's ever gotten up out of her sleep before...Stood at the edge of her bed, screaming for her friend.  >.>;;  She's had complete screaming fits in her sleep.  I've been found humming in my sleep once, and another time, just saying "no."  My mother once mimicked the heart monitors, beeping every so often.  XD
A few times, I've woken up but not realized it, so I continue my dream state....for example, in my dream I had a phone in my hand...so I went to text someone, before I realized I was just poking myself in the hand.  >.>;;
