If you rent a flat, it takes the money out that day...you should get the BA that day but we don't.

Thanks for this, its so helpful!!!

I posted this in another thread, but I'll post it here too, cos it's a bit more relevant here.
Probably a silly question, but if you buy an apartment (rather than rent), do you get BA each day? Or do you get a lump amount of BA once you purchase it? I've just heard different things on here.

You get the daily BA. Not a lump sum. And the value of your apartment decreases little by little, so you can sell it back later, but you won't get the full price.

its definately good to just rent an apartment the day you need to for the challenge to be complete. and then when you go up a level leave the apartment:)
but does buying and selling an apartment really that effective?

From what I have heard, it is not really beneficial to buy an apartment and then sell it again, because the price steadily decreases. So, you will lose money when you sell it

Unless you buy an apartment and then hold on to it for a long time. The price may decrease until it's worth $0 on a sellback, but it helps getting the daily BA (there are some BIG attitude goals in the higher levels, and it would be frustrating trying to build it up just in the games or by changing makeup and hair several times a day).

Hmm I can see there are benefits to having an appartment, but I am not sure if I want to spend all the BD on having one. And the buying prices are ridiculous...(okay so they may reflect real-life prices in some sense but still this is a game and they could have made some exceptions LOL), the extra BA a day would be good though
wa difficult.

I'm pretty sure that the money you get back would go right back into your BC total, so you could then use the money toward another apartment or whatever else (surgery, clothes, etc.) you wanted.
For example, the French game refunds the training fee when you quit a job, and it goes right back into your BC total.

Go the The City and then to the Real Estate office. It will show you the value remaining on your apartment. That's the amount you'll get back.
The amount that your apartment's value decreases per day is about half what renting it would cost.

The amount of BD you lose on your apartment per day if you buy it is about half what rent on it costs, so you can actually save BD by buying.

Yes. But your apartment decreases in value each day, so you won't get back what you paid for it.

Aren't you getting frustrated with answering the same questions over and over?

There are a lot of players here who don't speak English as a first language, and I try to give the benefit of the doubt. So I assume a player may be having difficulty reading and understanding everything that's already been posted (I am *so* intimidated by trying to use the French site forum - and reading a thread takes forever using the limited Internet translators!!).
At least most of the questions are appearing in the right thread, so that's a great accomplishment for someone who doesn't speak English or is new to the process of posting. The ones I don't get are the ones that aren't even close to being on topic (pets in the apartment thread, scouring/tanning in the pets thread, etc.). Oh well...all in a day's work.
Edit: Oh, and I remember some of the really lame posts I made when I first started playing (like I had any idea what I was talking about!!!) and try to put myself in their shoes. I really should hunt those embarrassing posts down and delete them. If only I could find them!!

serious question how and when do the game days change
The game days seem to change at approximately 5pm Mountain Standard Time (United States, Colorado-ish) which would be 4pm Pacific time (California) 6 pm Central Time (Chicago) or 7 pm Eastern (New York)

Ahh, I thought everyone changed at different times. You are right however, I am in NYC and my day changes at 7pm.
