What media did you use?
Am I right to guess the last one is pastels?
And they are all very nice.

They are all great, but my favorite is the second one.
You are really talented!

All but the 2 and 2nd to last were oils. The other two are acrylics. But that last one is oil paint and acrylic. I did the background in oil paint then I did the silhouetted trees in acrylic paint since it's an easier medium to use and I didn't really need to do any shading.

These are gorgeous, it makes me so jealous and wish that I could paint. I really love the second one, the colours in it are beautiful.

Thank you all.
This certainly lifts my spirits. I haven't had the time to paint as much since I have become a mother and I always felt everytime I picked up a pen or a paintbrush I wasn't as good as I used to be before I became a mother. But this does help me feel a whole lot better.

OH MAN ANOTHER ART PERSON!!!! This makes me wanna have them have a craft board or interest board or something.
I like your brushwork. I think the second one grabs me most (it reminds me of some artist... Matisse? I can't remember, its been too long since art history lol) because the colors are vibrant and you seem really sure of yourself in that one.
Out of curiosity, how did you get the butterflies so even?
What's your favorite way of painting with oils?

With the butterflies I knew that acrylics would be the easiest medium to use, so I went with that. And I drew them onto paper first, then cut them out and traced them onto the canvas to ensure that the wings would be even. I am using this piece in my daughter's room and for her, it had to be perfect. I know most people look down on tracing methods but I was tracing my OWN drawings and it still was not an easy process. I still has to paint over it and my hand shakes when I paint. So when painting the lines I had to go over some mistakes in black several times.
My favorite method of painting with oils is I dip my brush in paint thinner then mix it in a little bit of oil paint to get the consistency that I want. This method helps me make my oils last a lot longer.
I'm really happy that everyone likes the second one so much. That one is actually not the original. I painted that from an oil pastel I did a long time ago and I just had to do a painting of it. Here is the original.
I liked it so much and when I found it while looking through my old artwork I had to redo it as an oil painting. The colors ended up coming out brighter and more vibrant as everyone has mentioned. Though I felt the shapes may have suffered.

Ah man, tracing IS an art and can be part of art all the time! I totally agree!
Illustrators pretty much have to do it--to build up the body, layer upon layer, you may very well end up relying on a tracing board to keep your final document clean.
And one of my favorite art professors actually spoke to us about tracing. If you are tracing your OWN photography, your OWN drawing, or, in some cases, even part of stock imagery, as long as you continue to make the thing YOURS--it is art. It is how you USE the tracing in your work and alongside other skills that matters. A lot of people see it as "cheating" and that totally bothers me. So I Think its great that you could figure out how to use a template!
I'm kind of weird with my oils still. I use all kinds of different methods because I like applying them in a hundred bajillion different ways, but I always forget exactly how I do it till I do it. I like hearing how other people do it so that I can add to my repertoire. I'll keep that method in mind.
And I definitely don't think the shapes have suffered in the second piece! Neatness isn't everything, and the sort of wiggly lines gives the painting a lot of really good energy and vibrancy.

I didn't know you were an artist.
I like the butterfly against cherry blossom piece the best. The pieces seem laden with meaning.
