Hello everyone,
It has come to my attention that there are quite a few people on this site that have an interest in photography or are studying it at school/college and I was wondering if people liked the idea of having a little showcasing thread here? What I had in mind was to put up a new theme about once a week and people can post up one of their own photographs that they feel best represent the theme and maybe write a little something about why they feel it does. I think it would be nice to be able to get feedback and comments from other users about your own work. Would anyone be interested?
Ok well just to get the ball rolling Im going to start this thread with the theme 'Breath-taking moments' and invite anyone to showcase the photos they have that best represent this.
Thankyou and I hope you all like this thread!
My post...
I took this after climbing through the night to reach the summit of Mt. Fuji in time for the sunrise...this moment literally took my breath away and I quickly snapped this shot without thinking too much about it. Only afterwards did I check to see how it came out-I was very pleased with the result!

It really doesn't matter what camera you use-all that matters is that you took the picture and want to share it! I just use my boyfriends camera-I don't even know what it is! It just takes pictures-that's all that matters. I'd love to see what photos you've got. Im also open to suggestions as to what next weeks photography theme could be (if people are still visiting this thread of course!!!)

Ok..since I didn't get the topic now I did..I have one image...
This is unforgettable - the first double rainbow I've ever seen...and it was like a couple of months ago.. The stupid apartment building there's from my neighborhood...
Maybe next topic should be something like animals or nature...?

Thanks for the idea. Ooh I love double rainbows-I saw one when I was t the Niagra falls this year-maybe I'll post it later. Your pic is cool! It's great that you happened to have a camera at that moment!

And all those photos are amEIzing!

Well this was at the Niagra Falls (the Horseshe Falls is just behind me as Im taking the picture and the American Falls is just in the background there) and the double rainbow was a results of the spray-it was so pretty!

I am Corazzz on Deviant Art, here is some of my favourite stuff.
This is the Gateshead Millenium Brdige, AKA The Eye.
It is so called because when it lifts/tilts to allow ships to pass under it looks like an eye blinking. In the background is teh Baltic Centre for Contemproary Art.
This is St Nicholas Cathedral Church in Newcastle. It used to be the biggest Cathedral in England. When England and Scotland were still sparring, the place was used as part of a gruesome deception that killed hundereds and can still be heard on dark nights.
Mr Bumble Bee Lost His Wallet.
And Red Admiral doesn't want to help him find it xD
Ed: I so totally got that wrong LOL

These all look so proffessional!
Lovely views you have near you Aleya-I live in a city so the views I get are of buildings most of the time! It must be nice to be able escape to that view whenever you feel like it!

Corazie- I really liked what you had up before so I will make next weeks theme ' A study of people' so you can post them then! Have you got any that would fit with this weeks 'breath-taking moments'?
Edit: Just seen that you've added some! Thankyou-they're v cool!

Lol can you tell the day and sunset views are taken from 2 different cameras?? (I work in photography by the way so I am slightly obsessed lol)

To be honest I couldn't tell but I prefer the sunset one-I love the colours in it! What do you do then (obviously something in photography but it's a large field so you'll have to narrow it down!)?

See to me the sunset is poorer quality, I love the colours in it but it isn't sharp enough, a bit blurry around the edges, it was taken with a 7mp olympus (which I would never recommend anyone buy, I had nothing but problems with mine!)
The day shot was taken with a 10mp fuji which I love love love to pieces! The image quality is so much sharper and clearer and way more defined
I work in a photolab, selling cameras, printing photos etc. I am fully trained in photography though but the only 2 jobs I could get here would be freelance (which is alot of effort for alot of risk) or working for the newspaper (which is boring and my dad works for the newspaper and hates it so wouldn't let me work there in a million years lol)
Edited for spelling error

Still, it sounds good to be doing something you love for a living. I see what you mean about the quality of the photos-but they're both good (just on different merits!).

Yeh it is good, I just wish I could print photos without having to deal with stupid customers who over edit their already crappy photos and then blame me for them looking horrible lol
