This is from when I watched the sun set at a bedouin camp in the Sinai Desert, Egypt-it was especially breath-taking because I was there with my boyfriend and it was so romantic...

Rosario: LOVE the pic when you climbed Mt Fuji! As if climbing up there wasn't cool enough, you had that shot waiting for you

snakpak wow, love it (y) Our garden looks similar to that but it goes on a bit further, and the trees are more scattered

Wow-where do you people live?! I've never had a garden that size-it's huuuuge!
Thankyou Snakpak-it really was amazing to climb Mt. Fuji-the view of the stars during the night was sooooo beautiful but all the pictures I took didn't do them justice at all! Had to make do with photos of the sunrise instead!
I love fireworks but, again, it's one of those things that whenever I take photos and I look back through them I think they look really rubbish compared to the real thing-but your photo captures the moment perfectly! Do you have a really proffessional camera?

What a great idea for a thread! I love photography and wish that I had more time to practice and improve. School takes up almost all of my time---I should take more advantage of my weekends.

ManaPonj, have you got Deviant Art? I'm sure I've seen the second one before =]

I have a point and shoot camera right now. A Canon SD850. I really like it because it's not real bulky. My mom has a digital SLR Canon Rebel *so jealous*. My hubby may be getting me one for Christmas *fingers crossed*
ManaPonj: Geat pics!!! What camera do you have?

No, I don't. Is it a hosting/selling site?
I pay an annual fee at fotki.com for unlimited storage--it would be a pain to switch over.
It's a free artists community where you can display, host and sell your work. There's no limit so far as I know.

Thanks
I have a Canon dSLR (XT), it's a few years old now & I'm seriously ready to upgrade. I'd chop off a finger for a 1D lol.
Canons are too heavy for me >.< I can't go heavier than a Nikon, so that's what I've got. The pictures up now are from an old sony cybershot :S

Hello everyone,
It has come to my attention that there are quite a few people on this site that have an interest in photography or are studying it at school/college and I was wondering if people liked the idea of having a little showcasing thread here? What I had in mind was to put up a new theme about once a week and people can post up one of their own photographs that they feel best represent the theme and maybe write a little something about why they feel it does. I think it would be nice to be able to get feedback and comments from other users about your own work. Would anyone be interested?
Ok well just to get the ball rolling Im going to start this thread with the theme 'Breath-taking moments' and invite anyone to showcase the photos they have that best represent this.
Thankyou and I hope you all like this thread!
My post...

I took this after climbing through the night to reach the summit of Mt. Fuji in time for the sunrise...this moment literally took my breath away and I quickly snapped this shot without thinking too much about it. Only afterwards did I check to see how it came out-I was very pleased with the result!
Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous. Looks like a painting. Lucky~ I want to go to Japan.

Ohmygosh... are these picture retouched at all? The colors or so vibrant! They're absolutely stunning.

I love photography!
Never taken a class, or worked in the field.
Most of my shots are just spur of the moment, point the camera and shoot.
My husband and I have a Kodak Easyshare Z1285. We just absolutely love it!
A passing thunderstorm, August 1, 2008; outside of Valparaiso, Indiana.
A sunflower in my garden.
Almost full Moon {camera mounted on tripod}
My husband took this one; from a passing storm earlier this summer.
I've a few more, but haven't gotten around to uploading them onto PhotoBucket yet.

Try adding an external flash, L-lens and battery grip... talk about heavy!
My mom & best friend both shoot with Nikon. The colors are so vibrant and beautiful, but I don't like the sound it makes when you click the shutter (picky, I know lol). I prefer my canon simply because I'm used to it. Not to mention the fact that I have so much money invested in lenses, flashes, etc that I could never switch.
I'd love to buy an old Twin Lens Reflex. I have a Kodak Brownie from the very early 1900s, but it doesn't work.

My camera I'm currently using is a fuji z20fd, just a point and shoot compact, what I really want is a fuji s100fs http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digita … index.html
I may be biased because I work in a fuji minilab but when I went to fuji seminar a couple months back I got to play with this camera and it is absolutely amazing! It's not an SLR, but it is the next best thing! I love it *sigh* lol

Thank you
I didn't do any color correction on the first one, but on the second one I dropped the exposure a bit then bumped the saturation. It had some hot spots due to the slow shutter speed.

I've used Nikon, Fuji and Sony digital cameras... I didn't like the noise Nikon made either. Fuji is the most person-photogenic camera in my opinion. And I like Sony for good old every day use. Canon's supposed to be the best for pros though, I heard.
But you guys have such talented eyes here. I saw the rest of the pics--Snakpak, I already knew you were an awesome photographer. Chocolateangel, I love the sunflower. Rosario, how do you capture sunlight like that? Awesomeness... Whenever I try to capture the sunset, the color always doesn't come out the way I want it to. (Hence photoshop.)

I have gotten so many compliments on the sunflower picture from many a person. I decided to use it for the background image on my current MySpace profile layout!

I just added another picture to my wee collection...
You can't see it in the small version that comes up on here, but the focus is on the bee.

Good morning everyone-glad to see you've all been busy! Im really impressed with the photos I've just been looking at. They all so amazing...
Manaponj- your butterfly has stunning colour and the waterfall is really gorgeous.
Chocolateangel-I love the brewing storm! And I can't believe how good the lightning photo came out-that was a really lucky shot!
Starlicious-I love the photo with your mum in it-it's so touching. Which castle in England did you visit?
Corazie-I don't really like bees I have to say but the little guy in your latest pic is very cute!
It's also really great that everyone is using the thread to talk about types of cameras/techniques ect.-I for one don't know much about cameras so it's great to be able to learn stuff from other people.
Jienna-there are a variety of functions on my boyfriends camera that adjust the settings depending on what you're taking a photo of (eg. scenery, potrait, dusk ect) and it really gets the best photo out of every opportunity. It's particularly good to use for sunsets/sunrises.
Well, happy snapping everyone! x
