I want to stop smoking because it's a horrible habit and costs way too much. Im sure theres more smokers on this site that also wsh to stop smoking or help people who wish to stop. So this threads is for people to come for help and advice, or just to have a rant when they need a smoke!!
Feel free to add any stories you have about when you stopped smoking, the ups and downs, and any tips you have. Maybe we could get this stickied and give awards to people who have stopped smoking or start a ''we want to stop smoking'' cleek
If you want to join just says o in a postand i will add your name to a members list!

Smoking cuts down the chance of getting pregnant apparently. I would definatley stop smoking if i was pregnant or trying to have a baby. Can you imagine the harms that could be done?? Well i'll support you if you want to stop smoking. Im going to ask a mod to sticky this and see if we can be a cleek when more people join.

sounds good to me!!
i defo want to quit b4 getting pregnant as i would hate myself if anything happened to my baby ya know. dont know how women can smoke and not feel guilty when preggers....just not right!!
Offline

My friend had a baby recently and she drank smoke and took drugs during her pregnancy. Im surprised the baby actually lived and was born without (so far) birth defects. Im sure your cravings would outweight your need to smoke. Why dont you try some cheweing gum, or take up a hobby like knitting or painting?

my friend was the same - i really hate when women smoke, drink and do drugs when preggers - who are they to play with a baby's life. i like to paint so maybe i'll do that. i think allexi mean good PR for miss bimbo

Ahh i get it now. Yeah it would. Maybe if the media would focus on the forums on this site and not the boob jobs, face lifts and bfs we would get some good publicity. Ive seen a lot of threads with bimbos helping other bimbos. Though a new reporter would probably see this and tell the word ''MISS BIMBO SUPPORTS UNDERAGE SMOKING OF CRACK COCAINE''
You gotta love the way they take things out of context lol.
Are you a good painter? You should let us see some of your niccotine deprived artwork. You could make millions of it lol

Paint my numbers is awesome lol
Well if it keeps your hands busy im sure it'll help

I need to stop smoking since I'm having a baby in march I've been cutting down.
Cwnkp4eva and who are you do judge a woman that smokes during pregnancy oh you can drink during prgnacy in the uk it's not more than 2 units of alchol aweek.

i remember in school in HE class i saw a picture of a pregnant woman posing for a photo with a cig in her hand and it said underneath: 'what do you want more - a cig or your baby?' it was a simple picture but was very effective. i want a baby more than a cig and will do anything to ensure i can provide that baby with the best start in life.
i could hang the pain by numbers pics in the babys room....

I actually stopped today...
It's horrible. The minutes drag by. And I got my period, which makes me more cranky than usual, and that combined with kicking the habit has turned me into a monster. Here's to hoping it gets better tomorrow, when period crankiness should be done with.
I thought I'd try without nicotine gum or something like that, as that's feeding the habit, but no go. And I get dizzy as you wouldn't believe from the gum.
Ah well. I'll save a ton of money, at least. The prospect of rewarding myself with an Asus Eee makes it near bearable.

i have an opinion like everyone else - and i can use if i want to. if you are willing to put your babys health at risk thats up to you - you will have to deal with the consequences - not me. i, for one, would rather cut my hands off rather that do anything that may harm my unborn baby. but i just think thats me caring and protecting my baby....

look on this website Biddybimbo if you think after reading this that it is ok to smoke when pregnant then thats down to you.

Yes your are allowed 2 units per week, but even at that, it can cause harm to the unborn child. And shes not so much judging as saying that she'd rather not smoke while pregnant. I have the same opinion. I honestly hate seeing people smoke when theyre pregnant, because i have fmaily members whos kids have been born with asthma and other helth problems due to this. Like she said, opinions are opinions, everyones entitled to them, and they do differ. Its great that your cutting down because your pregnant.

The gum made me be violently sick. It tasted horrible, but it did make me cut down. I have 10 ciggarettes left. After that...no more....My period is just gone, so ive got about a month to get the niccotine out of my system, so i'll just be the usual cranky period melissa.

I've prepared by cutting down, actually to half of what I used to smoke. That went really well. The last half, not so much... Three weeks ago I signed up for an online quitting program, and they've given me a ton of helpful tips, such as drinking a glass of water when I crave a cig. It helps.
But it's still no fun!

Your giving up a drug. I dont think its meant to be fun lol. What website? Could you give us a link?

Point. It should be fun though. Johnny Depp should give me neck rubs and entertain me and feed me grapes to take the worst off it.
The website's in Norwegian, so I don't think it would be much help to you

Wait until the baby is walking and moving... then they suddenly get diagnosed with ADHD or hyperactivity. Then the mom says... Well I don;t know why they won't listen to me I try to do my best...
my work associate did that with her pregnancy came in every morning most times still drunk from the night before and fresh from having a smoke... baby is now 2 and bounces off the walls due to that alcohol fetal syndrome or whatever it is..
As for you lot wanting to quit DO IT!!! You never know how you are effecting those around you with your smoking. Even when you go outside if you come straight in the stuff that causes cancer is still on your clothes etc and you are still spreading it about as you walk.
I smoked for 16 years and then quit cold turkey... for me it was easy because I had a bf at the time who would nag me everytime I lit up so it got to the point where I did not like lighting up anymore even when he was not around. Won't be easy for any of you but the benefits outweight the habit.
The first year I quit smoking I bought myself little pressies with the money I saved. After three months I bought a 1/4 kt diamon earrings set, then after 6 months it was a 1/2 kt, 9 months 3/4 kt until the first year anniversary I bought myself 1kt diamond earrings. It was a huge event for me and my ears!
Good luck to you all!

Your ears must really love you. Thats what i want to do. Buy myself something as a treat every few months for the first year that i dont smoke. Though if i do have a smoke, even a little one, i wont get the treat. gonna mark it in a calender and everything. Im just worried about putting on weight. think i might learn how to knit.

I have a healthy boy I smoked during that pregnancy but like I have already said I'm giving up for this I to have an opion and that maybe non-smokers should stop preaching.
I have help to stop smoking through someb ody who helps pregnant women give up I have had 1 unit in 15wks 5days so if that makes me a bad person then I must be.
So don't tell me if a baby is lactose intollerant then that's down to smoking or any other health problem or any other condition.

Offline

Im sorry but none of us have attacked you in any which way and your acting as if we have. I think your very out of line, accusing us of accusing you of being a bad mother or something. No-ones mentioned anything like that. If your looking for drama please find it somewhere else.
Also me and Cwnkp4eva are smokers ourselves, so there arent any nonsmokers here preaching to you. I hate when non smokers preach to me about smoking. Im just like ...oh go away you silly person..you dont know what its like to smoke for so long.
Ok so youve had one unit during 15 weeks. Thats alright. W e were talking about people who constantly drink, chain smoke and take drugs when they are pregnant, and when(if) the child is born, the problems it will have later in life. Why don't you chill out, and read twice before making assumptions, because we arent talking about you or your parenting skills here.
Also, a baby being lactose intollerant is due to other reasons. I think its usually down to the genese.
